Learning Disability Week: 17th-23rd June 2019. It’s all about sport…

As mentioned in January’s post: Why are so few people with a learning disability in employment?, over 800,000 adults in the UK are thought to have a learning disability.

Next Monday, Learning Disability Week starts with a focus on accessible, inclusive sport in local communities. According to a 2015 Mencap survey, half of people with a learning disability want to spend more time outside their house.

Sport can be a great way to meet people, to feel a sense of purpose and achievement and can be very beneficial for physical and mental health.
